Rodney George Dental is a family-friendly practice and we love treating patients of all ages. We understand the importance of instilling good oral hygiene habits from a young age, and provide children’s dentistry services in a relaxed and safe environment.

Check-ups

It is very important that you bring your child in for regular dental check-ups in order to maintain their oral health in the long term. At your child’s check-up, Dr George will thoroughly examine their teeth and gums. In some cases, dental x-rays will be performed to check for underlying issues. When you come in for these regular check-ups, we recommend that you use the time to discuss any questions or concerns you might have with Dr George. Dr George will also be able to share some advice about your child’s diet, oral hygiene habits and brushing and flossing techniques. It is best to bring your child in for a check-up once every six months — regular examinations can go a long way in preventing small issues from becoming more complicated over time.

Dental x-rays

In some cases, Dr George may recommend that a dental x-ray be performed so that he can check for issues that may not be visible to the naked eye. X-rays are helpful in providing early diagnosis and are perfectly safe and painless.

Fillings

If your child suffers from dental decay and cavities, it may be necessary to have a filing placed. We offer modern white composite fillings and glass ionomer fillings. During the procedure, Dr George will numb the site of treatment to ensure that your child doesn’t feel any pain or discomfort. He will then carefully remove the decay from your tooth. Once all the decay has been removed, the space will be thoroughly cleaned of any remaining bacteria and debris. The filling will then be placed and the tooth will be finished and polished. The treatment is generally relatively quick and should not cause your child any pain.

Fissure sealants

At Rodney George Dental, we offer fissure sealants, which are plastic coatings that are applied to the grooves and pits of the back teeth. Fissure sealants provide a protective layer on the teeth and help to prevent food from getting stuck in hard-to-reach grooves. Fissure sealants are a great preventative treatment and can be helpful in preventing tooth decay. The procedure itself is quick and painless — the teeth are cleaned and prepared with a specially formulated solution before the sealant is applied. A light is used to harden the sealant. Fissure sealants typically last for years, although Dr George will look for wear and tear at regular check-ups.

We support the Child Dental Benefits Scheme

Rodney George Dental has always supported the Child Dental Benefits Scheme. This scheme entitles all eligible children to access up to $1000 over a two-year period for dental treatment. Dental treatment allowed under the CDBS includes exams, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride treatments, fissure sealing, fillings, root treatments and extractions.

Please note that orthodontics, cosmetic services and services provided in hospital are not allowed under this scheme.
